Ralphie May: The Comedian Who Should Have Been Bigger

Two days before he died, Ralphie May won Casino Comedian of the Year. He was forty-five, he had pneumonia, and he went to the ceremony anyway and posted about it with the hashtag NoApologies. Johnny Mac makes the case for a comedian who built a platinum album, six specials, and two decades of sold-out rooms through crowd work and audience relationship rather than industry validation, and asks why the comedy conversation still hasn't fully reckoned with what it lost when he died."What happened to Ralphie May?""Why did Ralphie May finish second on Last Comic Standing?""How did Ralphie May die?""What was Ralphie May's connection to Sam Kinison?""How many comedy specials did Ralphie May make?""Why isn't Ralphie May more famous?""What was Ralphie May's best comedy special?""Who won Last Comic Standing season 1?"Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/daily-comedy-news-with-johnny-mac--4522158/support.Today's DCN is brought to you by MyBookie use promo code DCN!Daily Comedy News is hosted by Johnny Mac and releases every weekday.
