Ramirez Returns as Guardians Push for AL Central Lead | Cleveland Guardians News

Jose Ramirez is back on the field for the Cleveland Guardians after a five-week absence due to hand surgery, and his return is a major boost as the team fights to hold onto first place in the AL Central. Despite his absence, the Guardians stayed competitive, going 15-15 and staying neck-and-neck with the Twins and White Sox. Ramirez is immediately back in the starting lineup at third base and batting second—no rehab assignment needed—showing the team’s confidence in his recovery. He’s dealt with a similar injury before, in 2019. To make room, outfielder Kahlil Watson was sent down to Triple-A, though he had a solid stint with a .239 average, one homer, and 11 RBIs in 27 games, including a highlight-reel catch. Before the injury, Ramirez was hitting .239 with 10 homers and 33 RBIs—his return could be the spark the offense needs.
