RAMOSTORIES - Stand-up at The Montreal Comedyworks (RIP)

from RAMOSTORIES with Dan Ramos

This special episode takes place back in 2013 at The Comedyworks in Montreal (when it was still open).  Dan Ramos started doing comedy by hitting the open-mic on Mondays at the Comedyworks in downtown Montreal. Unfortunately, because of free streaming content like this podcast (I'm joking), the comedy club had to close https://globalnews.ca/news/1408662/the-comedy-works-takes-its-final-bow/ The room was small and intimate- could probably hold about 60 people max, the club was on top of a bar, so wherever you go it smells like booze. When you entered The Comedyworks on the second floor, you were greeted by a wall of headshots from golden age of comedy, uncomfortable wabbly wooden tables and chairs and the stage was adorned with a mic, a stand, a stool and a almost broken blue neon Comedyworks sign. I'd look forward to getting a free drink, which only happened years later when I got better at stand-up.
