Randall Weber Podcast Interview

In this episode I speak with Nottingham Panthers legend Randall Weber.

After previously playing hockey in Canada, Randall attended Nottingham Panthers games as a fan before the club had fully evolved into an established ice hockey organisation. When the Panthers junior development programme was created, he immediately signed up — a decision that would define his career.

Randall made his senior Panthers debut during the 1985–86 season in front of a packed 2,300-strong crowd at Lower Parliament Street. It proved to be a memorable campaign, not least for the fiery encounters that included two infamous bench clearances involving the Murrayfield Racers and Ayr Bruins.

Fast forward sixteen years and Randall reflects on another notorious bench-clearing incident — this time at the Panthers' new home, the National Ice Centre, against arch rivals Sheffield Steelers.

In total, Randall played an extraordinary 845 games for the Nottingham Panthers — the only professional club of his career. In recognition of his loyalty, longevity and contribution to the club, the Panthers honoured him by retiring his iconic #10 jersey.

After hanging up his skates, Randall and his family returned to Canada, where he took on a new role as Operations Manager at Rexall Place, the home of the Edmonton Oilers.
