Random Mix - 2010_3

Here is the 3rd quarterly mix for 2010. Dubstep went overground. Sufjan Stevens returned with first an EP and then a stunning album. Everything Everything released their debut. Aloe Blacc went soul. Dedicated to the new lady in my life Kimaya Ellen (aged 6 weeks). Tracklisting... Skream - Perforated From the album, Outside the Box. Dubstep goes overground. Pariah - Prism From the Safehouses EP. My new favourite electronic artist. Another cracking release on R&S records. Somehow manages to sound modern and retro at the same time. Darkstar - Aidy's Girl is a Computer From the album, North. Great title, great track. DMX Krew - Memory Theme From the album, The March to the Stars. Cracking album this. The XX - VCR (Four Tet Rmx) Nuff said. The Foreign Exchange - The Last Fall From the album, Authenticity. The Foreign Exchange are Phonte from Little Brother and Dutch producer Nicolay. Everything Everything - Two For Nero From the album, Man Alive. Cracking album although they never quite top the bonkers Suffragette Suffragette (see random mix 2009_2). David Karsten Daniels and Fight The Big Bull - Through All the Fates From the album, I Mean to Live Here Still. Highly recommend this album. Roots Manuva vs Wrongtom - Rebuff From the album, Duppy Writer. Roots Manuva - "It was as a kid. Before I even knew what a soundsystem was. I was walking past Stockwell skateboard park and there was this sound being set up. They were probably just trying out their speakers. I was with my mum, holding my mum's hand. And I remember my mum being quite intimidated by the whole affair. Such a barrage of bass coming from it! And these dodgy-looking blokes standing beside it just admiring the sound of their bass. It's just a bass thing. A volume thing. I don't know if I rose-tint the memories, but I remember it sounded so good, so rich. It's not like today when we go to clubs and it hurts. It was more of a life-giving bass." Aloe Blacc - Green Lights From the album, Good Things. Aloe Blacc goes all soul. Sky Larkin - ATM From the album, Kaleide. Health - Nice Girls (Little Loud rmx) From the album, Disco 2. Matthew Dear - Gem From the album, Black City. Deerhunter - Coronado From the album, Halcyon Digest. The sound of a band who are too clever for their own good sitting down and deciding to write some songs. Les Savy Fav - Poltergeist From the album, Root For Ruin. Les Savy Fav coming on all Velvet Underground. Arcade Fire - Month of May From the album, The Suburbs. Sleigh Bells - Rill Rill From the album, Treats. Skream ft. Freckles - How Real From the album, Outside the Box. Sufjan Stevens - Vesuvius From the album, The Age of Adz. You need this beautiful album in your life. The recent All Delighted People EP was cracking too.
