Randy Dobnak’s Surprise Comeback | Kansas City Royals News

Randy Dobnak, once thought to be washed up, is having a surprising resurgence with the Royals—posting a 1.92 ERA in over 50 innings since his July call-up, including eight starts and standout performances against his old team, the Twins. While his stats suggest his hot streak may not be sustainable, his success hinges on smart pitching—limiting hard contact and inducing ground balls. After a rocky career path that included a big contract, injuries, and minor league stints, Dobnak’s comeback has coincided with the Royals’ own dramatic turnaround, now sitting at 27-23 and potentially playing spoiler for playoff hopes.
