Ranting about someone who is not there
from Daily Picture · host Stephanie Hawkins
I had taken an Uber taxi yesterday and when he stopped to let me out, the driver behind displayed anger with the honking of his car horn and a tirade of angry words. I went over to him to say that I had had no say in where I had been dropped off. His response was that he was not shouting at me but at the Uber driver. As I pointed out to him, my Uber driver had already driven off! So the driver's ranting and raving had had no effect on the Uber driver as he was no longer there! Don't we sometimes rant and complain about others who can't hear us. Meanwhile the stress we have built up is bad for us. Also perhaps he had been at fault too by driving too close and/or was judging another for something he had done or will do in the future. Can't we also be that hypocritical? Instead let us listen to and trust our Creator who tells us, "Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10). Is it worth ranting and raving as well as being in judgement of another?
