Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – 22 December 2019

from Rapidly Rotating Records · host Glenn Robison

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. You may have noticed that I sometimes start the intro to the show a little bit earlier into the opening theme song. I do this to keep from having to cut a record from the playlist. Well this week, playing all four records I had lined up for Al Goering’s birthday tribute precluded my playing the opening theme song at all! It’s not like you haven’t heard it, but I hope the opening wasn’t too jarring. Next week I expect you’ll hear the regular intro and theme song. Besides Al Goering’s birthday, we’ll also celebrate Abe Olman’s natal anniversary. In other segments, we’re going to do some crawling, spend some time on the delta and take a musical trip to Savannah. Although I’m not doing a Christmas show this year, I do want to wish those who celebrate a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah. I hope at this time of the year, everyone is able to enjoy delicious food, fine drink and quality time spent with family and friends. Enjoy the show! Here’s the complete playlist: Segment 1: Al Goering Holding My Honey’s Hand – Ben Selvin AHO / Paul Small, v. Hot Heels – The Cotton Pickers (Irving Mills)One Of Us Was Wrong – Russ Carlson Orchestra / Unidentified, v. Freshman Hop – Jack Pettis AHO Segment 2: Delta Mississippi Delta Blues – Jimmie RodgersDelta Bound – Duke Ellington and His Famous Orchestra / Ivie Anderson, v.Call Of The Delta – Buster Bailey and His Seven Chocolate Dandies Segment 3: Crawl Spider Crawl – Billy Banks AHO / Billy Banks, v.Cajun Crawl – Hackberry Ramblers / Lennis Sonnier, v.Campus Crawl – Jack Pettis and His Pets Segment 4: Abe Olman Just A Little Dance – Harry Reser’s Syncopators / Tom Stacks, v.Who Wants A Baby? – All Star Trio I’m Waiting For Ships That Never Come In – Charles Kaley Orchestra / Charles Kaley, v.
