Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – August 22, 2021

from Rapidly Rotating Records · host Glenn Robison

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. Do you know who this fellow is? I’m guessing not. He’s Austrian violinist and bandleader Ernst Holzer. You’ll hear him start off the third segment of this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records with his band Hot Jazz Ernst Holzer playing a tune about hot Vienna boys! But he’s not the only Austrian musician you’ll hear this week. There’s also Leo Katzele on trumpet and Heinz Sandauer on piano.  There are two birthday segment on this week’s show, both of them Eddies. There’s Eddie Durham to open the show, followed right after by Eddie Weber. The last couple of weeks we’ve taken musical trips to Sweden and Belgium and this week we’re off to Austria. We’ll also do a short stint in prison and get your goat.  There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and be whisked magically back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Thanks for listening and… ENJOY THE SHOW! I hope you are all safe and healthy and doing as well as you can be given the current world situation and stay-at-home orders and that this hour of music gives you a bit of diversion and entertainment. Thanks for listening and best wishes!
