Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – August 7, 2022
from Rapidly Rotating Records · host Glenn Robison
Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. Yet another playlist post not featuring a photograph of a composer, songwriter, performer or record label! This week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records starts off with a trio of records about mules. Mules have been used as pack animals for centuries which leads to a story about Adams Pack Station, located in Big Santa Anita Canyon in the San Gabriel Mountain Range, just 24 miles from downtown Los Angeles! Find out all about Adams Pack Station and the vital services it provides in the first segment of the show. In other segments, we’ll celebrate the birthdays of Mary O’Rourke and Charles Horwitz. We’ll also get sent “up the river,” and have a party of sorts. There’s lots of great music and interesting information, so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and be magically transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. ENJOY THE SHOW!
