Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – February 20, 2022

from Rapidly Rotating Records · host Glenn Robison

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. Among the records on this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records is the one above, “Among My Souvenirs” by the male vocal close harmony group The Revelers. In fact, it starts off the show in a segment honoring Lawrence Wright, who used the pseudonym Horatio Nicholls when composing. There are two other birthday segments this week, for Jolly Jack Robel and cornetist Johnny Dunn. We’ll also play “One Thing in Common” and play some records for no particular reason.   There’s lots of great music and interesting information, so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and be magically transported back to a different (and we think better!) musical era. ENJOY THE SHOW! Here’s the complete playlist: Segment 1: Lawrence Wright Among My Souvenirs – The RevelersA Bedtime Story – Carroll Gibbons and The Savoy Hotel Orpheans / Harry Bentley, v.Shepherd Of The Hills – Dave Kaplan with his Happiness Orchestra / Billy Jones, v. Segment 2: One Thing in Common Let’s Wander Away – The Knickerbockers / Lewis James, v.One Kiss – The Troubadours / Frank Munn, v.Do You Ever Think Of Me – Jan Garber AHO Segment 3: Jolly Jack Robel World’s Fair Polka – Jolly Jack Robel AHOPing Pong Polka – Jolly Jack Robel AHOOkey Dokey – Jolly Jack Robel and His Radio Band Segment 4: Johnny Dunn You’ve Never Heard The Blues – Johnny DunnDixie Blues – Edith Wilson & Johnny Dunn’s Original Jazz HoundsSergeant Dunn’s Bugle Call Blues – Johnny Dunn and His Band Segment 5: For No Particular Reason Out Of Breath (And Scared To Death Of You) – Victor Arden-Phil Ohman Orchestra / Frank Luther, v.You Leave Me Breathless – Roy Fox AHO / Denny Dennis, v.Breathless – Shep Fields and His New Music / Ken Curtis, v.  THANKS FOR LISTENING!
