Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show July 24, 2022

from Rapidly Rotating Records · host Glenn Robison

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. Do you know who this gentleman is? He’s pianist Cliff Jackson shown here at New York City’s Cafe Society in 1947. You’ll hear him earlier in his musical career as piano roll artist, classic blues accompanist and bandleader with his group the Crazy Kats. His is but one of four birthday we’re celebrating on this week’s show. The others are Hero De Rance, William Tracey and Tommy Kinsman. In the fourth segment, we’ll engage in sole jollity and have a tasty snack.  There’s lots of great music and interesting information, so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and be magically transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era.  ENJOY THE SHOW! Here’s the complete playlist: Segment 1: Tommy Kinsman Mean To Me – Florida Dance Band (Tommy Kinsman AHO) / Cavan O’Connor, v.Soon – Tommy Kinsman and His Band / Tommy Kinsman, v.Get Rhythm In Your Feet – Tommy Kinsman and His Band Segment 2: Hero De Rance You’re Mine – Edward Mallory Orchestra / Ethel Waters, v.The Journey’s End – Raymond NewellWhen The Circus Comes To Town – Jack Hylton AHO Segment 3: Cliff Jackson Hock Shop Blues – Cliff Jackson (Piano Roll)Dirty Mistreater – Carrie EdwardsTorrid Rhythm – Cliff Jackson and His Crazy Kats Segment 4: Popcorn Popcorn Man – George Elrick and His Music Makers / George Elrick, v.For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow – Tiny Hill AHOSegment 5: William Tracey Down By The Gas Hourse (The Wery Woist Part Of The Town) – Aileen Stanley & Billy MurrayDancin’ Dan – Selvin’s Orchestra / Isabelle Patricola, v.Dixie Is Dixie Once More – American Quartet The post Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show July 24, 2022 appeared first on Glenn Robison's Rapidly Rotating 78 RPM Records.
