Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – July 4, 2021

from Rapidly Rotating Records · host Glenn Robison

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. This week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records starts off with a first time birthday salute to Peter Mendoza. Well, actually it starts off with a correction to an attribution made on last week’s show! Then we hear from Peter Mendoza. The second segment is devoted to the fellow in the photograph above, pianist Harry M. Snodgrass.  Billed as “King of the Ivories,” Mr. Snodgrass has a most interesting biography and you’ll learn all about him and hear three of his recordings. In other segments we’ll fulfill a request, make a racket and play some music by “the march king” to get you in the mood for this evening’s Independence Day festivities.  There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported magically back to a different musical era. But most importantly… ENJOY THE SHOW! Best wishes to all for a safe, sane and pleasant Fourth of July holiday! Here’s the complete playlist: Segment 1: Peter Mendoza Don’t Be Late In The Morning – Ray Noble AHO / Ace Roland & Max Kester, v.Gone For Ever – Roy Fox and His Band / Al Bowlly, v.You Say “No,” Marie – Jay WIlbur and His Band / Sam Costa, v.
