Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – July 5, 2020

from Rapidly Rotating Records · host Glenn Robison

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. I hope you had a safe and sane Fourth of July holiday and week-end. Yesterday may have been the Fourth of July, but this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records is a special Independence Day show. You’ll know it’s special right from the get go because we’ve replaced our usual theme song of “Avalon” with John Philip Sousa’s “Federal March” played by Sousa’s Band. We start off with a bit of history about the Fourth of July and that’s followed by 13 records, one about each of the original 13 American colonies, with a bit of history about each of them. And they’re highlighted in the order in which they ratified the U. S. Constitution. Even if you’re an American history buff, you may learn something about the colonies, states and the Constitution. I know I did in researching this show. It’s also special because it’s a but longer than our usual one hour show, clocking in at an hour and 13 minutes. So grab your favorite beverage, sit back, relax and ENJOY THE SHOW! I hope you are all safe and healthy and doing as well as you can be given the current world situation and stay-at-home orders and that this hour of music gives you a bit of diversion and entertainment. Thanks for listening and best wishes! Thank you for your very kind attention! Enjoy the show!
