Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – June 27, 2021
from Rapidly Rotating Records · host Glenn Robison
Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. Do you know who this lady is? She’s Ermine Calloway, Edison’s answer to Helen Kane, Victor’s “Boop-Boop-A-Doop Girl.” And she’s getting her very own birthday segment on the show for the first time. Also getting his own segment for the first time is composer Lawrence B. O’Connor and you’ll hear information about both of them not readily available on the web. Charles Kenny had a birthday segment a couple of years ago, but we’ve got three different records for this year’s celebration. In the fourth segment of the show you’ll hear the first commercially available electrical recording released by Victor, titled “A Miniature Concert” featuring “The Eight Popular Victor Artists.” And in the final segment of the show, we’ll try to bring back some things. There’s lots of great music and interesting information, so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and be magically transported back to a different (and we’d say better) musical era. But most importantly… ENJOY THE SHOW!THANKS FOR LISTENING!PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD!
