Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – March 20, 2022

from Rapidly Rotating Records · host Glenn Robison

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. It was common for vintage sheet music to have photographs of orchestra leaders or vocalists associated with the tune on the cover. In this case, the cover refers to a recording of the tune “Slippery Hank” written by Frank Losey. The record is Victor 18321. It was recorded on June 4, 1917 by Earl Fuller’s Famous Jazz Band and that very record will wrap up Frank Losey’s birthday segment on this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records. We’ll also be celebrating Harold Stern’s birthday and in other segments, we’ll really try to succeed in business and see what we can see.  In the final segment, we’re just gonna “wing it!” There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and be magically transported back to a different–and we thing better–musical era.  ENJOY THE SHOW! Here’s the complete playlist: Segment 1: Harold Stern She Belongs To Me – Harold Stern and His Hotel Bellclaire OrchestraI’m All Dressed Up With A Broken Heart -Manolo Castro and His Havana Yacht Club Orchestra / Arthur Tracy, v.Isn’t It Romantic? – Harold Stern AHO / Bill Smith, v.
