Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – November 15, 2020

from Rapidly Rotating Records · host Glenn Robison

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. This week’s edition of the show starts off with a birthday salute for bandleader Lloyd Finlay and one of the three records we’ll play is pictured above, “Rope ‘Em Cowboy.” It’s a fun record with lots of musical effects, as are several records on the show. We’ll also celebrate the birthday of composer Mayhew Lake. There’s been some serious counting going on around the country recently, so we’ll do some counting of our own in the second segment. We’ll get some kicks in the fourth segment and finish up with a musical trip to Pago Pago! Be aware that I forgot to credit Eddie Holly with the vocal on “Stop Kicking My Heart Around” on the show. There’s lots of great music and some fascinating information in store, so just click on the link to listen streaming instantly online and/or download the show for listening at your convenience.      ENJOY THE SHOW! I hope you are all safe and healthy and doing as well as you can be given the current world situation and stay-at-home orders and that this hour of music gives you a bit of diversion and entertainment. Thanks for listening and best wishes!
