Raptors spanked by Cavs on opening night; Scottie's struggles, IQ's injury & JAMAL SHEAD!

from Locked On Raptors - Daily Podcast On The Toronto Raptors · host Locked On Podcast Network

The Toronto Raptors got blown out by the Cleveland Cavaliers in their home opener on Wednesday night, with an already shorthanded roster taking another blow when Immanuel Quickley left after a fall in the 2nd quarter. In Episode 1733, Sean Woodley goes solo to talk about the Toronto Raptors 136-106 season-opening loss, why a combo of poor play, strange decision-making and a hollowed out roster due to injury came together to leave the Raptors up a creek without a paddle against a dangerous-looking Cavs team, positives and negatives in the backcourt, and The Good, The Bad & The Hmmmm from the first game of 82. Off the top, Sean gets into how the Cavs terror duo of Evan Mobly and Jarrett Allen gave Scottie Barnes fits, Barnes forcing the issue, and Darko Rajakovic doing Barnes no favours by surrounding him with little shooting -- albeit while working with a roster down five rotation players once Quickley was ruled out for the second half. Next, Sean dives into the guard play on display in the game. IQ looked rock solid before the injury, Jamal Shead was awesome, guiding the team through it's best stretch of the final three quarters of the game, and Davion Mitchell had a hard time as a lead creator. It's clear Jamal Shead is the best backup point guard on this team, and there's a real case to start him if IQ needs to miss some time with the pelvic contusion he sustained in a fall. Lastly, Sean runs through The Good (Chris Boucher), The Bad (no purple court to accompany ths sweet purple and black jerseys) and The Hmmmm (Jonathan Mogbo) to round out the show. Join us on the Locked On Raptors Discord server! https://discord.gg/km3ePVNwSubscribe to the FREE Locked On Raptors Daily Newsletter: https://newsletters.lockedonpodcasts.com/nba/raptors/coming-soonFor your next listen, check out the Locked On NBA podcast, where the season never ends providing national expertise with a local perspective.
