Rare disease and the women's health gap

For women with rare diseases, they often face a double jeopardy, where many of the symptoms they experience can be confused with and misdiagnosed as menopause. In a new pharmaphorum podcast, web editor Nicole Raleigh speaks with Jennifer Schranz, head of rare diseases at Ipsen, for a conversation focused on rare liver disease primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), which affects nine women for every one man, and the women’s health gap more generally. Schranz explains the importance of developing a more individualised approach to management and treatment of PBC for each patient and discusses Ipsen’s PBC therapy Iqirvo (elafibranor).
