Rare Diseases: More Than You Can Imagine

Every 28th February has been set aside yearly to commemorate World Rare Disease Day. Rare Diseases affect about 350 million people globally and there are over 7000 of them.These are diseases that affect 1 in 2000 people, hence the name. This episode sheds light on the challenges faced by individuals living with rare diseases from misdiagnosis to inadequate or unavailable treatments. I talk about some of these diseases in line with the 2025 theme which is " More Than You Can Imagine" and discuss the significance of the day, which aims to raise awareness and improve understanding of rare diseases.
