Rare Invasive Worm Wriggles Into St. Louis County Park

from Show Me Today - The Voice of Missouri

A visitor to Cliff Cave County Park south of St. Louis recently spotted an unusual sight, a rare invasive hammerhead worm. This species of worm is more common in other parts of the country, but less common in the Midwest.  Alyssa Hui Anderson of the St. Louis County Parks and Rec Department shares the story.  Angela Sokolowski, the Missouri Department of Conservation’s invasive Species Coordinator, shares what she’s learned about this unusual-looking worm, which can be toxic, can out-compete native earthworms, and, if cut in half, can regenerate.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
