Rattle - The Army

from The Tabernacle Sermons · host The Tabernacle

The Bible frequently describes the church as an army of believers, with a purpose to glorify God and fulfill His mission. Unfortunately many of us struggle to know who, whose we are, and the truth of the Gospel. We must understand that who God is and what God does is what determines who I am and what I do. This is the ‘Gospel Ladder.’ If we reverse it and begin with what I do as the determining factor of who I am and what God does, we don’t understand who God is and are believing a false Gospel of man-made spirituality, and powerless religiosity. This is critical. But when we get it in critical mass, the church begins to move and get after the mission and leaves stagnation behind. In Mt 16:18b Jesus promised to build his church, "and the gates of hell would not prevail against it.” Gates are defensive, which means that the church is on offense. When the army goes on offense, and does what the church is called to do, we rattle the gates of hell for the Glory of God alone.
