Raun Kaufman Autism Crisis Turnaround (ACT) March 14, 2023

from Patricia Lemer: The Autism Detective · host Patricia Lemer

Raun Kaufman is a 50 year old man who was diagnosed with severe autism as a young child. His parents refused to follow doctors recommendations for institutionalization and worked to recover him completely. Raun attended Brown University and today helps families of kids with Autism understand the underlying causes of their behavior. He developed the ACT program to work with meltdowns and other behaviors along with Kate Wilde. Listen in to understand how the environment and imposed situations can lead our loved ones with autism into a crisis mode, and "neuro-crashes", making it impossible for them to function. Raun believes that symptom suppressers used to mitigate or avoid meltdowns, such as medications, are inappropriate. While these may be quick fixes, they merely suppress the behavior. www.AutismCrisisTurnAround.com
