Raw (2016)

⚠️ Trigger Warning: This episode contains discussion of cannibalism and gagging sounds/noises. Listener discretion is advised. This week on Howe Horrible, we sink our teeth into the 2016 French-Belgian coming-of-age body horror film Raw — and yes, we mean that literally. Directed by Julia Ducournau, this stomach-churning debut follows Justine, a lifelong vegetarian who develops some very unexpected cravings after her first week at veterinary school. We break down what makes Raw so uniquely unsettling — from its visceral practical effects to its deeper themes of identity, desire, and sisterhood gone very, very wrong. Is it shock value, or genuine art-house horror? We've got opinions. Tune in if you dare — just maybe don't eat while you listen.
