from Radio Brews News · host Australian Brews News

In a special release Radio Brews News podcast Pete sides with VB while Matt puts on the tin foil hats and sees shadows on the grassy knoll as the thrash out the Great VB apology in far more detail than you ever probably wanted discussed, as well as contrast it with this week's media release announcing Crown Lager on tap. We will still be releasing our interview with Jade Flavell from The Wheatsheaf in Adelaide. Today's Pacific rendition of the Beer Barrel Polka comes to us performed by that legendary crooner, Knuckles O'Toole, from his magnum opus, Sing Along With Knuckles O'Toole. Buy it here, thank us later. There's also a special appearance by Gemini Five. You can now hear Radio Brews News on Stitcher Smart Radio which lets you hear us directly on your iPhone, Android Phone, Kindle Fire and plenty of others. Download it free today at any app store. You can still get us on iTunes or listen to us right here. Show notes: Original media release announcing the change, 1 July 2009. Media Release VB REMAINS GREAT VALUE VB remains great value, retaining its wholesale price unchanged on stubbies and cans despite Federal Government excise increases and rising input costs. With bi-annual CPI-indexed excise increases applying from 1 August and in the face of rising input costs including malt and hops,  VB will hold its wholesale price in stubbies and cans, through tough economic times. VB will reduce alcohol-by-volume from 4.8 to 4.6% from August to fund this. “With a microscopic change in alcohol content, VB will come in line with most Australian mainstream beers”, said VB Group Marketing Manager, Paul Donaldson. “The beer tastes exactly the same, has the same standard drinks, and offers better value to stockists.” “We’re investing behind the brand with one of Australia’s biggest ever beer ads – VB Regulars – launching next week”, Paul said.  “VB is Australia’s favourite beer and we’re making sure it remains the real Australian beer. A bit of history: CUB reduces strength of VB CUB denies drinkers can taste the difference and no one is complaining. Fosters increases advertising spend on products to $30-million VB back to full strength
