What does jewellery remember, and what shapes its meaning? In this episode of the BAJ Podcast, Sofie Boons is joined by jewellery artist Carla Movia to explore how objects can act as patient holders of stories. Through experimental uses of technique and materials, from filigree to sugar and found plastic components, Carla’s practice reframes discarded matter and traditional processes, inviting new ways of seeing, valuing, and interpreting. Moving between acts of collecting, listening, and remaking, the conversation reflects on the relationships between maker, wearer, viewer, and environment and asks how jewellery might create space for reflection in a world shaped by environmental change and material excess.
