Re-training becoming an Early Years Manager - From primary teacher to early years teacher

Here the Beckies talk with Jamie a dynamic manager in early years. Jamie was a year 6 primary school teacher who saw the importance of the early years and decided to take a year re-training for EYTS .  Discover what he has gained since changing his educational career route? Why early years?  What does it feel like to be a male in the early years workforce?Jamie talks about how the freedom to teach through an child-led initiated  approach.Enjoying the company of children is crucial in early years, as is  'Being in the moment'.FUN is crucial and engaging with children through laughter and their ideas is key.Jamie discusses  how he found that learning from others and reflecting  on  their early years  experiences  was so helpful.  There is a need to reflect in the everyday practice and in action daily. The children care who you are as a person, Children just need fantastic adults around them!We discuss educators vs babysitters and the importance of raising  the understanding of what actually happens in early years.
