Rosilia Gomez-Barranco was just 15 years old when she immigrated from the Dominican Republic to join her mom in the United States. As a smart, hardworking teenager, she had big dreams but few tangible resources to help her make them a reality. She took classes in biology and sometimes had only enough money after paying for basic expenses to buy an iced coffee - which became her food for the whole day! Yet, Rosilia leaned into her faith and courage. She found a way to build a life and career in Massachusetts, ultimately working her way through college and landing a steady job at a women's hospital in Boston. When she was 26, Rosilia met her now-husband, who already had two children. This launched the beginning of a whole new adventure for her - motherhood!
