Youth Emergency Preparedness Council (YEPC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to educating and preparing communities for disasters. It is organized and led by the youth through local chapters, serving a district-wide region. Chapter leaders organize educational events and service projects for the benefit of the community in partnership with local, state, and national agencies. Yusuf Rasheed, and is a Senior at Mission San Jose High School. He became interested in emergency preparedness through my school’s Safety Committee and then formed the Youth Emergency Preparedness Council to help prepare other students for upcoming natural disasters. His goal is to put the Youth Emergency Preparedness Council chapter in every high school in the United States.
