Readiness: Waiting in Fruitful Anticipation

How do you get ready for something you're anticipating? In these days, getting ready may mean; wash your face, comb your hair, and put on a nice shirt - for a Zoom meeting. If you don't have your video camera on, then all you have to do is be present with no special readiness except for what you hope to get from whatever you're logging into. That kind of has made some a bit lazy, no? Readiness not only has to do with being presentable, if you're getting ready to attend an event, but it also speaks to your state of mind. We are not always ready to hear or witness certain things. They can catch us off guard.  That's because our mind can only handle but a certain amount of input at a time that can be processed at any point in time - hence the need for readiness. Ephesians 6:14-15 (NIV) Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
