Today our 'Reading Luke in Lent' series starts in earnest - and where better to start than at the beginning. Luke, Chapter 1: 1 - 25. The Gospel of Luke begins in a formal manner addressed to Theophilus and sets out Luke’s credentials as a historian. The narrative begins with the events leading up to the birth of Jesus, the only Gospel to do so, starting with the foretelling of the birth of John the Baptist.
