Reading Luke In Lent - Luke 8: 4-25

from Catholic Church · host Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales

Today's podcast for 'Reading Luke in Lent' looks at Luke, Chapter 8: 4-25. Jesus’ family are those who hear the word of God and do it. They are like the seed which falls into good soil and grows and yields a hundredfold. But there are also those who do not act, who wither away, who hide their light. Those who listen will be rewarded — they will be given more than they have. Despite all this teaching and explaining to the disciples what the parable meant they still forget or do not wholly realise who Jesus is. In the midlle of the storm they panic. Jesus wakes up and rebukes not just the win and the raging waves but also the disciples for their lack of faith. 'Reading Luke in Lent' is a series of simple podcasts for the Lenten season offering a daily reading from St Luke - covering the Gospel from start to finish - from Ash Wednesday to the first week of Easter.
