We chat with Kurt McLaughlin and Jennifer Florent, a power couple in the Portland real estate investment community and founders of Invest Northwest. They discuss their backgrounds and how they founded Invest NW. Jennifer Florent is a licensed realtor at Keller Williams, and Kurt McLaughlin has a construction background and has recently found a passion for design and interior work. They talk about the importance of building a community and their upcoming conference.  They started a monthly Real Estate Investment meetup that eventually grew into a larger conference-style event. The idea is to bring people from all different angles of real estate investing together to network and share their skills. The event aims to open the door for people to meet and find the right connections for their projects. People fear bringing too many other people into the market or having competition. But there's just so much opportunity that the bigger our community, the more eyes we have looking for it, the more it will come into it.  We talk about the importance of connecting with people in the real estate industry. It is often difficult for new investors to start, as there is so much to learn. Learn the importance of networking, meeting people, and taking action.
