Brint's parents got divorced when he was 6 years old which left him with a sense of insecurity and abandonment early in life. Brint's sense of insecurity coupled with the lack of a strong male role model and father figure thrust Brint into a lifestyle of drugs, alcohol, and unhealthy relations all in an attempt to escape the recurring pain and abandonment he experienced in life.
