Really Radio - S02E01 - The Comeback - Jan 2014

from Really Radio · host jellycast

In Episode 1, Season 2 of Really Radio, Lord highOwl And Aaron Really return with their monthly dose of Music for Music’s sake by Music Lovers, including the freestyle session. The Theme this month is The Comeback. Our hosts select tracks that made a massive return to form by their favourite artists. They Talk Busta Rhymes attending Liverpool Uni, Wu Tang merging with S Club 7 and preview the rest of the 2014 series. A new feature for Season 2 is the guest mix from Season 1 guest DJ Gavin Kendrick. Here are a few words describing his offering: When I found out that the theme of this show was comebacks, I couldn't wait to zoom in on New York producer Marc Kinchen. Better known as MK, his dub mixes in the 90s that tackled both underground and pop music songs alike were a staple in every DJ's bag. After a ten year hiatus producing platinum-selling R&B, being signed by Quincy Jones, and a stretch as in-house producer for Will Smith, MK returned to house music this year with a number of crossover dubs in his trademark style - eventually scoring a UK number one with his ubiquitous cut up of Storm Queen's 'Look Right Through'. Here I'm sharing a few of his 90s dubs - some of my favourites from the deep house comeback king of 2013. Hope you enjoy… Chez Damier - Can You Feel It (MK Dub) [KMS Records - 1992] Bette Midler - To Deserve You (MK Club Mix) [Atlantic - 1995] 4th Measure Men - 4 You (MK Dub) [Area 10 - 1993] Celine Dion - Misled (MK Dub) [Epic - 1993] Track List: Eminem - Rhyme & Reason Manic Street Preachers - A Design For Life Chromeo - Over Your Shoulder Bob Sinclair ft. The Sugar Hill Gang - LaLa Song (Original Club Mix) Q Tip & Busta Rhymes - Butch & Sundance MC Nyameke - Thank you (Instrumental) Massive Attack - Paradise Circus Salaam Remi ft. Corinne Bailey Rae - Making It Hard
