Madi Sato grew up very connected to the Earth, as a child gathering water for the family from the local stream in water jugs, hearing the sound of the flowing water and feeling its coolness. Being raised in Cherokee ways, even though it was not her blood lineage, connected her to the Mother Earth deeply. After being asked by many sisters to unite women in song, Madi facilitated the creation of the Song Carriers community to reawaken the ancient traditions. Working with indigenous elders from around the world, Madi holds space for women to lift their voices to sing the songs of their ancestors.
