Receiving and Giving Forgiveness in Prayer | Jason Staggers

In part five of our series on the Lord's Prayer, we focus on Jesus' instruction to confess our sins to the Lord, asking for and receiving forgivness from God, and to declare to God that we forgive those who have sinned against us. These two must go together. If we are unwilling to forgive others, it reveals that we have not truly received forgiveness from God. Either we do not understand the depths of our own depravity, and therefore our own need for a Saviour, or we do not value the immense mercy that God has shown to us in Christ. Likely, it is both. Either way, those who have truly received mercy from God will be willing to give mercy to others. As we pray this prayer daily, we grow in love, both for God and other people.
