Reclaiming Your Inner Voice

from Silent Screams Loud Strenght · host Samantha Avril-Andreassen, Your Host of Silent Screams Loud Strength

“I have traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal—a path carved by silence, deceit, and broken trust. It is a profound wound, one that cuts deeper than flesh, severing the spirit and unsettling the soul.” – S.A.A.This episode is a bit different.Today isn’t just a conversation — it’s an invitation. An invitation to drop into stillness. To come back to yourself. To remember:You don’t have to fight to prove your strength.Because sometimes, the strongest thing you can do… is simply breathe."“Strength is not always loud. Sometimes it’s the whisper that says: I’m still here.” – S.A.A.HOST (gentle, affirming):Let’s begin by acknowledging something hard:For survivors, stillness can feel unsafe.Stillness is where the memories live.Stillness is when the flashbacks come.Stillness is what we avoided — because survival meant movement, planning, scanning, reacting. But healing means gently reintroducing the body to the idea that stillness isn’t a threat — it’s a refuge. That takes practice. And it takes time.Let’s try this together.Wherever you are — sitting, standing, or lying down — find a position that feels supportive.Close your eyes if it’s safe. Or soften your gaze. Now, breathe in deeply through your nose…And exhale through your mouth.Inhale — I am here.Exhale — I am safe.Place one hand on your heart. The other on your belly.Let your breath guide you.Notice: the rise… the fall.Say quietly to yourself:“I don’t need to run right now.I don’t need to fix anything.I can just be.”This is your power. This is your strength — meeting stillness.Grounding is not just a trend — it’s neuroscience. When you connect to your breath, your heartbeat, your present surroundings, you activate your parasympathetic nervous system — the part responsible for safety, calm, digestion, sleep. It tells your body:“We are not in danger. We are safe. We can soften now.”This matters because trauma keeps us stuck in fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. And healing invites us to return to flow.To presence. To peace.Even just 30 seconds a day of intentional grounding can rewire how your body responds to stress over time.Take your time with this one.Ask yourself:When was the last time I felt truly still — and safe? What does stillness feel like in my body today? Now write:“Stillness meets my strength when…”Let your pen become a mirror. You don’t need to force “I am grounded.I am safe in stillness. My body is no longer at war.Stillness is not weakness — it is sacred. My strength is here, in this moment.”Repeat this as often as you need.
