You can check out his blog type AJ negative You can also find him on Facebook AJ Brown 36 and other social media outlets So I hope you'll check out AJ Brown and we'll be right back and welcome back to the daily with still Stein here on anchor And I just got done recommending books The author spotlight was on author AJ Brown and now we're gonna resume with my author news Which the show will be about in regards to my latest thriller battered mind So now we turn the tables over to me or now the the the talk will be about my book Basically, as you know, I'm an indie author so yes time and I published numerous anthologies I started with my writer's group 750 and then of course this was back in I want to say 2010 After I had my daughter, you know, I was thinking about what I was gonna do I was thinking business, but I've always wanted to be a writer. I always want to be an author So therefore I gravitated to you know writing stories putting them down And I had always had these ideas writing when I was growing up I was right stories plays different things, but then as you get older, you know, I started going to school Then I became a teacher and you know, I taught Spanish and then you know I went for my bachelors and my masters and you know, of course I got married I have three children lovely children and then I was stuck into what I wanted to do next not that you know It's I've enjoyed being a mother and of course a wife more than anything But I wanted to do something creative that I've always wanted to do not that teaching wasn't because it is and I love it As well and tutoring but my main love has always been writing so therefore I started Trying to be a author or writing my stories and I got my chance when I joined the writer 750 shout out to them And I joined the group with Heather Heather Shultz and all the wonderful authors and people I got to meet and we joined, you know, we started this anthology I started writing stories and then we created the the anthologies that I began with which were the giant giant tales beyond the mystic doors and and then we just went into You know doing different anthologies writing stories working on those and then of course I went to Southern New Hampshire University got my master's degree in English and creative writing and then I started writing my own books And I started with closure when I joined SNHU It was a short story a friend and author and also editor who refused to he doesn't she doesn't want me to name her Because she has a lot going on and she's a very busy lady But she encouraged me along with my own writer group at SNHU Southern New Hampshire University great friends and writers themselves and authors to Pursue writing my own story so I created closure and I wrote closure and 2014 it was published. I started in 2013 Or 2012 sorry and then it was published in 2014 and then I created chasing clarity Which was clarity and and that national novel month and it I finished it at the draft It went through a lot then I published that in October of 2015 And then of course I had the diary of a broken father I ended it on SNHU which was a prequel to closure and that started out in one of my last classes that I took for my master's in creative writing and and English as other New Hampshire University and I started as a draft and then I went through a lot of drafts and different things And then I published it in February of 2017 So this was released on February 10th of 2017 and now I'm working on my other novel Which I also started working on on one of national novel months but and it was also a winner it was a draft called battered mind and it's gone through so many changes and I think it was I Want to say it was 2014 that I did this and I still have not published that this is one It's a thriller and it's and it's going it's gone through so many different scenarios and points of you And I finally started crafting out the story in around 2016 2017 But I had a lot going on you know busy and personal stuff going on with family members and and personal things that you know With family that was that we had to go through and loss and and a lot of different things happened So I wasn't able to focus on it I've been more focused on it now and I hope to release it by April or the latest would be July of this year Hopefully June or July, but this is a story that is like no other I Really admire the writings of Jillian Flynn Gone girl and Father Hawkins the girl on the train and also the Ann Moriarty big little lies.

I've it's a combination not copying them but it's it they kind of Help me develop this story more because I had done it as a draft and it's a story of of a woman That's going through so much and Sadie Martin Carlyle will take you on a big journey Throughout the story and I want to make it to where everyone connects with Sadie and the different characters That are in this story because it is very important But this thriller is is something that I hope that everyone will Connect with and it is something that I have not done I've done stories that are meant to empower of course every every story and every character that I create is meant to Release a type of message and and and and even though it's fiction I want people to connect with them and this story for Sadie is going to be one That is what how should I say it will take you places and different things without giving the plot away The story, you know, I started thinking of writing it a while even before I started national novel I wanted to do something different And and even and even though you may have heard this story or may have this story started on a journey from this character The whole about Sadie and what she's going through and what she's gonna have to overcome And there's different things that happen to her when the story begins and you have to make a decision of you know Whether she has done something or not is she guilty is is this really happening? There's so many things you're going to question and the subject matter is sensitive I want to make sure that it's done properly And I want to make sure that I do my research and do the diligence that is I'm supposed to for this story So this is why this you know, this is something that's going to be different I don't want to give too much away But I will read an excerpt of something for you today And I wanted to share that and how excited I am to bring you battered minds and copyright is mine Sylvia Stein And I am recording this so all of the work is mine and and I'm just excited to bring you this story and I'm crafting it out and I've been working more on it and you know I hope that you get to get as excited as I am about bringing you Sadie So here's a little excerpt that I'm gonna read and and hopefully, you know You all will enjoy battered mind and we'll be right back with more and just a little bit cuz I let this segment run a little longer All right, we'll be back and happy Wednesday everyone and welcome back to the daily with so Stein here on anchor And now as promised I'm going to read you a little bit about battered mind by me So yes, I'm a thriller that is coming out coming to you. Hopefully soon In April or the latest would be June or July of this year A voice cries out in the night a sad tone takes over the sky I look to you for answers to get me through my life. Oh, the first time I saw Dante and he looked at me It was a deep connection I felt swept out of my feet and he made me forget all of my troubled past.

I really believed I mean I'm on in here. Sorry about that. I really believed I could make a life with him and for a while things were so perfect Little did I know it was all an illusion Dante after all was a charmer from the start with his innocent puppy brown eyes He drove me into his world and after the first glance. There was no turning back My father Jackson Martin did not like the idea of me and Dante dating here was very much against it He wanted me to finish my law degree and become a successful criminal defense attorney like he was after all He was my father was the best in Virginia Give me one second here.

I have my phone up put on locked in the screen and now it's doing that So my apologies guys on that here No, sorry about that. Okay. He wanted me to finish my law degree and become a successful criminal defense attorney like he was after all He was one of the best in Atlanta. Sorry.

I said Virginia actually Atlanta he had his own law firm and He just wanted me to be the best but I was so smitten with Dante he was also a lawyer and I was just blown away by him and everything that he could give me but It all turned into a nightmare And that's what I have so far on Sadie and I want to share too much on that But basically it's a little excerpt of of what Sadie is telling us about Dante and you'll learn more and each week I'll try to bring you more of the excerpt as we get closer So you can get to know more of the story And I have shared a little bit bits and pieces here and there of the story But not as much and I do plan to put more stuff on a blog hopefully But I hope that you will take the time to read this thriller that I'm working on I'm really excited about it And I just wanted to do this show to kind of share my excerpt with you guys on the daily whistle sign on anchor I feel like it's great that we do writing tips But I wanted to share more about me and the writings and where I'm going with it and this thriller And I know it was a very small excerpt But I hope to share more as we go and I I want to also leave you with this A voice cries out in the night for someone to hear its plea as the wind begins to fade the sound The sound there you are in between ready to come forward ready to listen ready to just set me free So there's a lot going on with Sadie as we are we're learning and every week you'll learn I'll try to share a little bit of more about her so you can learn about her and Little by little all the other characters in the story. So I hope you do enjoy or did enjoy listening today on the daily whistle sign here on anchor I'm really excited about this thriller finally getting it together after a while.
