Reconstruction work shut down a major highway ramp this morning

from Pittsburgh All Local

Reconstruction work shut down a major highway ramp this morning. The exit to Route 8 north from Route 28 south near Etna closed at 6am and will remain closed around the clock through July 31 while crews reconstruct the exit ramp. The official detour tells drivers to stay on Route 28 south, exit at Millvale and reenter Route 28 going north. The project is located between Baker Street and the 62nd Street Bridge and will include milling and resurfacing, retaining wall repairs, and the installation of a barrier to separate travel lanes from a future shared-use path. The work is part of a $9 million project in Pittsburgh, Etna and Shaler that started in August 2024. The project is expected to end late this year.
