Record-breaking heatwave devastates Europe
from Sunrise · host LiSTNR
A record-breaking heatwave across Europe has caused France to issue its highest health alert after experiencing consecutive hottest days on record, while the UK broke a 50-year temperature record twice in consecutive days. The extreme heat, caused by hot stagnant air from the Sahara Desert, has resulted in dozens of deaths including young people experiencing cardiac arrests at quadruple the typical rate in France, children dying in vehicles, and over 40 drowning deaths in Britain. Germany is expecting 40-degree temperatures with only around 20% of European homes equipped with air conditioning.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
