The Utah Transit Authority claimed attorney-client privilege in denying a Box Elder News Journal records request related to communications between the transit organization and Perry City leading up to the city restoring a long-standing transit sales tax the city had previously repealed. The Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA) request sought communications related to UTA’s response to Perry’s 2023 decision to repeal a sales tax dedicated to the transit agency. UTA released a small number of records in response but withheld others.
