Host John Shegarian interviews Julie Rizzo, creator of her Recycled Granite brand was as much about sparing landfills as it was about creating green jobs across the U.S. When she launched the company in 2010, granite recycling was not practiced — virtually all granite waste was making its way to landfills. The company started by making pavers from 1.75-inch-thick "waste" granite left over from consumer countertops. Now, it's a $5-million sustainable business of 35 locations across the U.S. that has recycled 30+ million pounds of granite and counting.
