Red Bandanna Game Preview vs Rutgers | Rutgers Scarlet News

This year’s Red Bandanna Game on September 11 honors Welles Crowther, a BC alum and 9/11 hero who embodied the Jesuit ideal of being men and women for others — a day that carries deep meaning as Boston College takes on Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights enter with a QB battle between junior AJ Surace and transfer Dylan Lonergan, the latter a former BC QB who could ignite a raucous crowd. Rutgers’ offense also features explosive talent: Antwan Raymond with 1,200+ rushing yards and 13 TDs, and KJ Duff, who shattered program records with 241 receiving yards in one game. Defensively, Rutgers brings new leadership and key transfers, including nose guard Zaire Angoy and DB Jett Elad. For BC, this is a pivotal chance to rebound after a tough season — and the emotional weight of the Red Bandanna Game could make this matchup unforgettable.
