from Wintermut3 Music · host Wintermut3
The Battle of Stalingrad (23 August 1942 – 2 February 1943) was a major battle on the Eastern Front of World War II in which Nazi Germany and its allies fought the Soviet Union for control of the city of Stalingrad (now Volgograd) in Southern Russia, on the eastern boundary of Europe. It was some of the most bitter fighting of the war, the individual battles were fought inch by inch with "gains" sometimes being attributed in feet. Among the most famous battle sites was "The Red October Factory" tractor works--where at times, the tanks rolled right off the assembly line right into battle... there are actually lyrics i wrote for this track but never recorded: =============================== The City lies cracked and broken brick and wood torn askew From the "people's" work and home The workers spirit and resolve stands whole The clouds are black and red as man and machine spill onto the ground Steel and blood burn and boil into the sky The glorious worker lies mangled and twisted The gunfire tears the air asunder Death tipped thunder echoes across the people's city Striking life down like a bolt from the gods The atheist defends his motherland from the Teutonic hoards No Alexander Nevsky to stem the tide New heroes must be born from youths sacrifice Death gives them their first kiss no blushing bride to receive their lips The Factory twisted remains their objective "The Red Barricades must Fall" "The Red Barricades must Fall" "The Red Barricades must Fall" The "master" must triumph over the worker No mercy no mercy, all must die Steel machines rolls over all, Man woman and child They feel no remorse about the sub-humans They are animals and must be led to slaughter The motherland struggles against the Father The Mother "Red Barricades" protected it worker's—their lives, her charge Now the roles are reversed as son's defends their Mother As the "master race" struggles to choke the city, every brick a prize Every brick their demise as the noose is tightened Soon cold and hunger will stalk them A white wolf to mercilessly hunt them down The city now provides them no shelter The night will seduce them to lie frozen while promising letters Home Their tomb now is the Red Barricades, no epitaph for their Bones... .
