The Dakota gold rush triggered the Great Sioux War of 1876 and the death of Custer at Little Bighorn. It was one of the most violent land disputes in American history, driven by broken treaties and gold fever. Nick's proposed alternative to cavalry and conflict is monthly peace concerts and career changes into cheese-making.
