Red Flag Warning | Kansas Weather

from The Kansas Weather Podcast

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Kansas Weather Podcast — it's Wednesday, February 25th. Step outside and you'll feel 39 degrees under clear skies. That chill won't last. We're about to ride a 20 to 30 degrees spike above normal by Friday. Out west, you're waking up to 33 degrees. Feels like 31 around 5 A.M. By 4 P.M., you hit 70 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Winds flip from north to east-northeast around 8 A.M. A brief shower could brush through around 6 P.M., but only a 20 percent shot. Push south-central and you're starting at 43 degrees. Your low hits 43 around 5 A.M., then you climb to 67 by 4 P.M. Winds shift from east-southeast to south-southeast around 2 P.M. Tonight brings partly cloudy skies and a low around 40. Up in the northeast, you're at 38 degrees this morning. Your low dips to 35 around 7 A.M. By 3 P.M., you reach 60 degrees with partly sunny skies. Winds shift from east to southeast around noon. Here's where it gets interesting. Rain moves in from 7 P.M. to midnight, peaking at about 40 percent chance around 9 P.M. Nothing heavy, but keep the umbrella handy. Tonight across the state, lows settle into the 30s. Tomorrow brings more sun with highs in the low to mid 60s. Thursday and Friday stay sunny with highs climbing into the 70s. Friday looks especially toasty. But a cold front arrives Saturday. That drops temperatures back to reality. Sunday into Monday brings a chance of rain, possibly mixing with snow. Highs retreat to the 40s. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight today. Sunrise at 6:58 A.M., sunset at 6:07 P.M. Spring equinox is just three weeks away. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
