Red Rock SAR: Preventing Emergencies Before They Start | Las Vegas News

Red Rock Search and Rescue, a volunteer force of nearly 200 dedicated members, is redefining mountain rescue by focusing on prevention—like warning hikers to “stay put” if lost. Their PSAR strategy, vital in Nevada’s harsh terrain, saves lives before emergencies escalate. Founded in 2012, this certified nonprofit trains volunteers rigorously, supports law enforcement, and even aids families of missing persons. They’ve expanded to assist large events on the Strip, acting as urban safety eyes. Driven by passion, many volunteers invest hundreds of hours and personal gear—sometimes up to $1,000—fueling a mission that’s quietly saving countless lives.
