RED SOX POSTCAST: 3 Late Home Runs Support Crochet & Sox Avoid Being Swept in Chi-Town

The Red Sox (54-47) got 6 solid innings from Garrett Crochet and hit 3 Home Runs in coming from behind and beating the Chicago Cubs, 6-1, in the series finale at Wrigley Field Sunday afternoon.  With the win, the Sox avoided being swept for the 4th time this season. It's the Red Sox 21st comeback win of the season.-----Crochet Day: Garrett Crochet took the mound for the 14th time this season after a Red Sox loss in the game prior to his start. Crochet gave up 1 earned run over 6 innings of work and picked up his 11th win. Crochet walked 2 and struck out 5. He departed with a 2-1 lead. The Cubs leadoff man reached in 4 of the 6 innings against Crochet. The lefty got 14 swings & misses in his 6 innings. He was 19-for-26 on 1st-pitch strikes and got 7 groundball outs.      -----The Pen: Garrett Whitlock, Jordan Hicks and Jorge Alcala each worked a scoreless inning out of the pen. Aroldis Chapman did not appear in the series against the Cubs. -----Sox at the Dish: The Sox finally broke thru in the 7th and took their 1st lead of the series on a 2-run Home Run from Wilyer Abreu. His 19th Home Run of the season gave the Red Sox a 2-1 lead. Alex Bregman came off the bench and hit a pinch-hit 3-run Home Run in the 8th Inning. It was Bregman's 12th Home Run of the season and just his 2nd from the 7th inning or later. Abreu followed with his 2nd of the game and that made it 6-1. It's Abreu's 5th career multi-homer game and 4th this season.  Ceddanne Rafaela went 0-for-4 on Sunday, ending his career-best 12-game hit streak.       -----#'s of the DAY: It was Bregman's 2nd career pinch-hit Home Run.  The Red Sox have gone 10 straight games without scoring in the 1st Inning. The Red Sox had 4 (1 Double & 3 Home Runs) extra-base hits in Sunday's comeback win and have 84 extra-base hits over the last 18 Games. The Sox are now 17-33 on the season when their opponent scores first.  The Sox improved to 19-13 in the final game of a series.  -----What's On Tap?: The Red Sox move on to Philadelphia and begin a 3-game series vs. the Phillies Monday night at Citizens Bank Park. Walker Buehler and Zack Wheeler are the probable starting pitchers for the series opener.
