RED SOX POSTCAST- Bats, Bello & Bullpen Lead Sox to Series Win

The Red Sox picked up a series victory over the Cleveland Guardians with a 13-3 victory in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Progressive Field.  The Red Sox put up 5 runs in the 5th inning to break the game open.  Rob Refsnyder, Rafael Devers & Ceddanne Rafaela all hit Home Runs in the Red Sox win.  With the win in Sunday's series finale, the Red Sox have won a series vs. the Guardians for the 1st time since late April of 2023.  -----Scoring 1st: Rob Refsnyder got the Red Sox on the board 1st with a Home Run to lead off the Top of the 2nd Inning off of Logan Allen. It's Refsnyder's 2nd Home Run of the season.  The Red Sox are now (11-2 Updated #) when scoring the 1st run of the game.  -----Hitter's Notes: Ceddanne Rafaela made it 12-3 with a 3-run Home Run in the 7th Inning. Rafaela had a Double, Home Run & 5 RBIs in the lopsided victory.  Jarren Duran collected 4 hits in Sunday's finale. It's his 1st of the season and comes after collecting 3 hits in the nightcap of the Doubleheader on Saturday. Duran has hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games and has 4 multi-hit games over his last 6 games. Trevor Story went 0-for-4 with a walk and 2 strikeouts on Sunday and has 1 hit over his last 25 at-bats. -----Bello on the Bump: Bryan Bello made his 2nd start of the season on Sunday and pickd up the victory.  Bello gave up a leadoff Doubles to Steven Kwan in the 1st Inning and Bo Naylor in the 2nd and in both innings, Bello escaped without giving up a run.  Bello did not allow a run until he gave up a 3-run Home Run to Nolan Jones in the 6th.  #66 Final Line- 6.0 IP. 6 Hits. 3 R. 3 ER. 3 BB. 4 K. 1 HR allowed. 99 P.-----In Relief: Garrett Whitlock worked a scoreless 7th Inning out of the bullpen.  It was Whitlock's 6th straight scoreless outing and 8th overall.  Sean Newcomb worked in relief for the 1st time this season and worked a scoreless 8th with 3 strikeouts. Liam Hedriks worked a 1-2-3 9th.   -----#'s of the NIGHT: With Sunday's win, the Red Sox improved to 7-2 in the final game of a series. The Red Sox have won 4 of their last 5 on the road and are 8-8 away from Fenway. Rafaela's 3-run Home Run was the 11th of the season for the Red Sox.-----What's On Tap?: The Red Sox will have a scheduled off day Monday and will then open up a 3-game series in Toronto on Tuesday. The Blue Jays took 3 of 4 from the Red Sox at Fenway Park earlier this month.
